Paul Givan welcomed the athletes to Stormont last night

Northern Ireland competitors from the Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games have been honoured with a reception at Stormont.

Among the Team GB and Team Ireland members able to attend last night's event were gold medal winners Bethany Firth, Michael McKillop and Jason Smyth.

Smyth says it's fantastic to get the recognition.

The evening was hosted by Sports Minister Paul Givan.

Bethany Firth says it's brilliant to be united across different sports.

Michael McKillop says he's proud to be recognised alongside his fellow athletes.

Team Ireland's Hillsborough-based three-day eventer Clare Abbott says it was an enjoyable reunion.
