Queen Camilla is expected to have recovered from her chest infection and be able to attend the global premiere of 'Gladiator II' with King Charles next week.

The 77-year-old royal pulled out of her engagements this week after falling ill with a chest infection but on Wednesday (06.11.24), Buckingham Palace announced she and her husband, King Charles, will be in attendance for the Royal Film Performance in London's Leicester Square next Wednesday (13.11.24).

The royal couple will meet director Sir Ridley Scott and cast members including Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen and Pedro Pascal at the event.

Before the premiere, Charles and Camilla will host a reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the TV and film industry in the UK, with guests from various parts of the sector, including directors, actors, stunt performers, presenters, and costume designers, set to attend. The palace will host a display of costumes and props from films including 'Titanic', 'Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World', and the late Dame Maggie Smith's outfit from 'Evil Under The Sun'.

The events are being staged to mark the centenary of the Film and TV Charity, of which the king is patron.

It was announced on Tuesday (05.11.24) that the queen had fallen ill but hopes to be recovered enough to attend the Remembrance events at the weekend.

A spokesperson said: "Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.

"With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal.

"She apologises to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result."

Her newly-released diary for next week also includes a Booker Prize reception at Clarence House next Tuesday (12.05.24).

The queen is recovering at her own home in Wiltshire, Ray Mill.
