Republic crash to shock defeat and NI miss out in first game against USA

The Republic of Ireland have crashed to a humiliating World Cup qualifying defeat at home to Luxembourg.

The minnows grabbed a late winner in a shock 1-0 victory at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday night.

Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Gerson Rodrigues came up with the big moment in the 85th minute to seal a famous victory 

Republic manager Stephen Kenny has yet to win after 10 games in charge - including two defeats in the first two World Cup qualifiers.

On Sunday evening, Northern Ireland played the USA for the first time, going down 2-1 in a friendly at Windsor Park:

Linfield moved 10 points clear at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership on Saturday night with a 1-0 win at Portadown.

Earlier, rivals Coleraine lost 2-1 away to Cliftonville and Glentoran beat Crusaders 1-0 at The Oval - Jay Donnelly with a dramatic stoppage time winner.

Ballymena hammered Dungannon 5-1 while the other matches ended in draws - Larne at Glenavon and Carrick against Warrenpoint.
