The Irish Cup will kick-off competitive sport after the lockdown.

The Stormont Executive has given the green light for competitive sport to resume here from July 17th.

It's all been suspended since the Covid crisis hit in March. 

Limited numbers of outdoor spectators will be allowed at first, but should be increased two weeks later.

The semi-finals and final of football's Irish Cup are scheduled for the end of July. 

The games were due to be played behind closed doors. 

Ulster Rugby will return to training on Monday before competitive action resumes in late August.

GAA will begin with club championships before inter-county football in October.

A comprehensive plan for sport's return is to be published by the Executive on Monday.

The head of Ulster GAA Brian McAvoy says it's essential teams are able to prepare properly: 



Meanwhile, elite athletes can start indoor training from next Monday.
