Danske Bank Premiership pacesetters Coleraine have crashed to their first league defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to Linfield at Windsor Park.

Mark Stafford headed what turned out to be the winner after being cleared to play when his mid-week red card against Crusaders was rescinded.

The Blues stay fifth, now eight points behind Coleraine whose lead at the top has been slashed to two points as second-placed Glenavon beat Ballinamallard 3-0 at Ferney Park.

Crusaders were the top scorers on Saturday, crushing Carrick Rangers 7-1 at Seaview with Gavin Whyte hitting a hat-trick.

Glentoran beat Warrenpoint 3-2 at Milltown - Dan Kelly scoring his first two goals for the east Belfast side. 

Cliftonville were 1-0 winners away to Ards and Ballymena beat Dungannon Swifts 2-1 at the Showgrounds.

The big transfer news of the weekend was Larne beating Linfield to the signature of former Derry City and Cliftonville striker Davy McDaid.

He's left Waterford to join the Championship club on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
