The USA regained the trophy for the first time since 2008, winning 17-11.

Europe suffered their biggest Ryder Cup defeat in 35 years, after the USA regained the trophy at Hazeltine.

Davis Love III team won 17-11.

Clarke will now face inevitable scrutiny over some of his wild-card picks and choices of pairings.

But he says they were beaten by a superior team.

Meanwhile

Rory McIlroy says they won't encourage European fans to "retaliate" by taunting USA golfers at the 2018 Ryder Cup in Paris.

He was one of the main targets for verbal abuse from spectators at Hazeltine.

McIlroy says a few jibes are to be expected.
