11 further coronavirus deaths in Northern Ireland and 1,929 new cases

Nine more people have died in Northern Ireland in the past 24 hours having contracted Covid-19, according to the Department of Health.

There were two further deaths outside this period. 

The department says there have now been 1,322 coronavirus-related fatalities here in total. 

1,929 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Northern Ireland in the past 24 hours.

In the past seven days, the Department of Health has recorded 8,228 new cases of Coronavirus.

It brings the total number of infections here since the start of the pandemic to 72,834.

495 people with COVID-19 are in hospitals across Northern Ireland with 34 of these being in intensive care beds, 27 being on ventilators.

53 ICU beds are being occupied by other non-COVID-19 patients.

Therefore, there are now 26 ICU beds unoccupied across the region's hospitals.

The Department of Health data also showed 107 care homes here now have confirmed outbreaks of the virus, with none having suspected outbreaks.

425 care homes now have closed outbreaks.
