A woman's been robbed and threatened by a masked man armed with knife or screwdriver in Newry.

It happened at a house on Church Street shortly after 20 past 11 last night.

The victim was confronted by the intruder when she went to investigate a noise downstairs in her home - where two other men armed with similar weapons were found.

The three suspects stole a handbag containing money and a gold necklace - before making off in the direction towards High Street.

Detective Sergeant Foley said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the victims who have been left very distressed. I want to appeal to anyone who was in Church Street and saw three men acting suspiciously, or anyone who knows anything about this crime, to contact us on 101, and quote reference 2216 of 03/08/20.”
