A woman's been beaten in the face after confronting a group of men who broke in to her Craigavon Home.

The intruders forced their way in to the property in the Bleary Road area at around 8.30 last night.

The gang then smashed a number of windows in a car that had arrived at the property.

They made off with a phone and a small amount of money.

Police say it was an extremely traumatic experience for the woman.

A PSNI spokesperson said:

At approximately 8.30pm a number of unknown men broke into a house whilst a female occupant was present in the property.  On hearing the intruders she locked herself in her bedroom.   The men forced their way into the room.

On seeing there was someone in the room they attempted to leave the scene.  The woman confronted one of the males who pushed her against a wall.  A further struggle ensued where one of the men hit the woman a number of times in the face.

As the intruders fled the scene they smashed a number of windows in a car that had arrived at the property.

A phone and a small sum of cash was stolen.

This was an extremely traumatic experience for this woman, who should be able to live without fear in her own home.
