West Belfast house targeted in arson attack

Police have described an arson attack at a house in West Belfast as a 'reckless act'.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at Divismore Park at around three this morning.

No-one was inside the property at the time.

Officers are treating the attack as arson with entent to endanger life.

 

Detectives are treating a fire early this morning at a house in Divismore Park in West Belfast as arson with intent to endanger life. Damage to the house but, thankfully, no injuries. If you’ve information, call 101; quote reference 255 of 20/07/18.

Detective Inspector Kerry Brennan said:

"The fire at a house in Divismore Park was reported to us at approximately 3am. 

"Police attended along the NIFRS, who extinguished the blaze. 

"Damage from the fire was contained to the front door and hallway of the property. Thankfully, there was no one in the house at the time.

“This was a reckless act, which we are investigating as arson with intent to endanger life. 

"If you have information which could assist our investigation, or if you were in the area prior to, or around the time it was reported to us and saw any suspicious activity, including persons or cars, please call detectives at Musgrave on 101, quoting reference number 255 of 20/07/19."
