Storm Erik is continuing to batter Northern Ireland with wind this morning.

The MET office issued a yellow weather warning last night - which will remain in place until 3 this afternoon.

Winds have been gusting 60 to 70 miles across the region overnight.

Translink has advised rail and bus networks may face disruption this morning.

A spokesperson said:

"There is a yellow weather warning in place for Storm Erik, with high winds which may cause damage.

We do our best to keep our customers moving in all weather conditions and in the interests of maintaining safe operations, it may be necessary to impose speed restrictions across the NI Railways network early Saturday morning"

"Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journey tomorrow and to keep up to date with timetable information through our social media channels or our journey planner."

“We are liaising with the Met Office and other organisations to enable us to make informed decisions."

“Contingency arrangements are in place both to maintain rail services, including chainsaw crews and other resources"

“Bus services may also face disruption or diversion if roads are blocked or impassable."

“We will be keeping our customers informed and we would ask for patience and understanding as we work to maintain our services”
