PSNI officer suffers 'minor injuries' as thieves flee scene of robbery

A police officer has been left with minor injuries after a car fleeing the scene of a robbery failed to stop. 

A pressure washer worth around £4,000 was taken from a property in the Michelin Road area of Newtownabbey last night. 

Police tried to stop a red Mitsubishi shogun that made off from the scene, but it failed to stop - causing minor injuries to the officer.

A spokesperson for the police service said :“It was reported around 9.10 pm on Wednesday 14th August entry was gained to the premises and a green barrel pressure washer was taken valued around £4000.

“A red Mitsubishi shogun that made off from the scene, failed to stop causing minor injuries to an officer.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or who has been offered similar items for resale to contact police in Newtownabbey on 101."
