Prisoner jailed for life fails to return to Maghaberry Prison after release

A convicted murderer has absconded from Maghaberry Prison during a period of release. 

William Robert Martin was due to return to the prison yesterday after pre-release testing. 

The 48-year-old is serving a life sentence and is described as having brown eyes, grey hair and a medium build. 

A descriptoion posted to the DOJ website reads:

Description: Height - 1.73m
Build - Medium
Complexion - Fresh

Eye colour: Brown

Hair colour: Grey

Distinguishing marks: Ear - Left, Scar; Eye - Right, Scar, Side of r/eye; Knee - Left, Scar; Finger - Right Thumb, Scar; Arm - Upper Left , Tattoo, Mks; Arm - Lower Right , Tattoo, Skull do or die; Arm - Upper Right , Tattoo, Mks mum; Arm - Upper Left , Tattoo, Mks;
