Petrol thrown over car and set alight in Bangor

A car has been badly damaged after petrol was thrown over it and set alight in Bangor. 

It happened in the Fernmore Avenue area at around 1.40am this morning. 

The front window of a house was also smashed during the incident. 

Police say three men, believed to have been involved in the incident, were spotted leaving the scene.

Inspector Hanna said, “It was reported that at around 1.40am the front window of the house was smashed and the passenger window of the car was broken and a petrol can had been thrown inside.

"Extensive damage was caused to the car as a result.

"Three males, believed to have been involved in the incident were seen making off from the scene.

“Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist police with their investigation to contact officers in Bangor on 101 quoting reference number 108 of 30/08/19. 

"Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime”.
