Former Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary Owen Smith says staying in the customs union and single market are central to the protection of the Peace Process.

He's been speaking after being sacked by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn for arguing there should be a second Brexit referendum.

Mr. Corbyn's facing criticism from within his own party.

Owen Smith has repeatedly suggested a second EU referendum - but insists he doesn't regret it. 

He's wished his replacement Tony Lloyd well. 

Labour peer Lord Hain has called the sacking a "terrible Stalinist purge".
