The North Antrim MLA has called on TransportNI to complete works to make the Junction of Sand Rd and Woodtown Rd safer

Paul Frew has urged TransportNI to complete work on the Junction of Sand Rd and Woodtown Rd, with the North Anrtim MLA hoping to see the junction near Ballymena made safer for motorists

Mr Frew said that he first contacted Transport NI in 2012 after several collisions at the site.  Writing back to them a year later in 2013, TransportNI then stated they hoped to be in a position to compete for funding in the next three years.

In 2014 some work was done to minimalise risk on the junction, including new junction warnings and highlighted signage.  However, Mr Frew added that further work was required to ensure another fatality wouldn't occur at the Junction.

Meanwhile Mr Frew praised TransportNI for their commitment to install a new pathway in Rathlin Drive off the Ballymoney Rd.  The pathway has fallen in to a state of disrepair and said that several residents, some elderly, were unable to use the existing pathway.
