A 39 year old man has been arrested following a number of security alerts in Derry-Londonderry.

He's been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite in Belfast for questioning.

The security operation began this morning forcing police to close Iniscarn Road, Harty Court, Moss Park, and Strand Road.

A number of residents have been evacuated.

Police say the Iniscarn Road and Harty Court areas are now clear and people have been allowed to return home.

Strand Road and Moss Park remain closed.

Police say they're not making any links between today's security alerts and the murder of Lyra McKee in the city on Thursday.

Detectives also say they are treating the alerts as a criminal incident and not a terrorist related incident.
