Two men, armed with what is believed to have been a hammer, have failed to gain entry into a house in Newtownabbey in an attempted burglary.

They approached the property in the Glenville Park area at around 2.20am this morning.

Police say damage was caused to glass in the door as a result.

When the men failed to get into the house, they fled the scene on foot.

Three people were in the house at the time, two adults and a young child but they were not injured.

Both suspects have been described as being 5' 10" in height and both wore dark-coloured hooded tops.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the PSNI on the non emergency number 101, quoting reference 75 of 13/11/18.
