A man has been left traumatised following a hijacking in west Belfast.

The victim was standing at the boot of his car on Kingsway in Dunmurry when he was pushed over by another man - who then drove off.

Police are still trying to locate the Volkswagen Golf which was taken just before 7.30pm last night.

A PSNI spokesperson says detectives are appealing for witnesses.

"Police received a report just before 7:20pm that the male driver of a grey-coloured Volkswagen Golf - registration JHZ 5055 - was standing at the boot of his car on Kingsway in Dunmurry when another male approached him, pushed him and then got into his vehicle and drove off."

Detective Sergeant Nugent added: "This was a traumatic ordeal for the victim who was simply going about his business when this occurred.

"We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or who believes they know the whereabouts of the Golf, to get in touch with is.

"We're also appealing to drivers who were in the area around this time and who may have captured what happened on their dash cam, or the movements of the Golf after it was taken, to call 101, quoting reference number 1687 of 14/12/20."
