Man arrested on suspicion of murdering teen in Co Fermanagh

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of teenager John Paul McDonagh in Co Fermanagh. 

The 18-year-old, who had been living in the Enniskillen for some time, was injured during an altercation in the Coolcullen Meadow area at around 8.40pm on Saturday night. 

Police have previously said a number of men brandishing weapons were involved in the incident. 

When officers attended the scene they found two men had sustained wounds to their legs. 

They were taken to hospital where Mr McDonagh passed away on Monday morning.

Detectives then launched a murder investigation. 

The 29-year-old suspect has been arrested on suspicion of offences, including murder, and he remains in custody this afternoon.

A 19-year-old man was previously arrested in relation to the incident before being released on bail pending further enquiries. 

A police statement said: "Detectives from PSNI's Murder Investigation Team investigating the murder of 18-year-old John Paul McDonagh in Enniskillen at the weekend have arrested a man.

"The 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of offences, including murder, and he remains in custody this afternoon."
