LISTEN - Elderly couple living in fear following gun attack on north Belfast home

Two pensioners aged in their seventies have been left traumatised after shots were fired at their house in north Belfast.

Two bullets were fired through the living room window of the property in the Arosa Parade area of the city sometime between 4 and 5am.

An upstairs bedroom window was also shot at and a bullet was put through the letterbox. 

The couple's son was also in the house at the time and escaped injury.

73 year-old May Bunting was in her bed when the shots were fired. 

She believes the attack was a case of mistaken identity.

An elderly woman fears that a gunman who fired four shots at her north Belfast home could return.

Detective Sergeant Arnott said: “It was reported to police shortly after 8:30am this morning (Thursday 24^th October) that four shots were fired at a house in the area sometime between 4am and 5am this morning.

"Two males and a female were inside the property at the time of the incident, but there were no reports of any injuries. Damage was caused to the window, wall and ceiling of a living room in the property. An upstairs bedroom was also damaged during the incident.

 “Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident."

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area during that time to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101, quoting reference number 264 24/10/19.
