The Marine Accident Investigation Branch says it's probing the death of a man on board a fishing vessel in Kilkeel, county Down.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) was called to an incident at the Harbour at 4.32pm yesterday afternoon.

It's understood the man who died was aboard the "Artemis", a Scottish registered fishing trawler.

A Marine Accident Investigation Branch spokesperson said: “We have sent two investigators to Kilkeel, Northern Ireland to investigate an accident involving the death of a crewman on fishing vessel Artemis while alongside in port.”

A spokesperson for the NIAS said, "NIAS despatched one emergency crew and one rapid response paramedic to the scene.

"The charity Air Ambulance was also despatched to the incident.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, no one was transferred to hospital."
