Harland and Wolff workers will sound the shipyard horn this evening to honour the NHS and other frontline workers battling the coronavirus pandemic.

The horn has not been sounded properly in twenty years and is the loudest siren in Belfast, meaning it will be heard in all parts of the city.

People across the UK have been showing their appreciation and solidarity with healthcare workers, by clapping outside their homes or from their windows each Thursday night.

At 8pm, H&W workers will sound the horn for one minute to show their appreciation.

The event will be livestreamed by participants on social media.
