The funeral service will take place later of Sir Anthony Hart.

The retired High Court Judge died from a severe heart attack in London last week.

The 73-year-old was Chairman of the Northern Ireland's historical institutional abuse inquiry back in 2017.

It examined the role of children's homes run by religious orders, charities and the state.

As a result of his findings, Sir Anthony recommended a compensation scheme for victims who had been mistreated in facilities here between 1922 and 1995.

Tributes from various victims and survivors groups flooded in for the respected Judge, when the news of his untimely passing broke.

Sir Anthony will be laid to rest at St.Mark's Church in Dundela at 1 this afternoon.

Church of Ireland Bishop of Down and Dromore, Reverend Harold Miller said: "It was a pleasure and privilege to know Tony.

"He served the Lord, the church and the community with faithfulness and integrity, with humility and firmness.

"He will be greatly missed.

"Our comfort is in knowing that he is in the closer presence of his Lord."

Sir Anthony, who was known as Tony, was described as a "strong but gentle Christian believer" who served a number of roles at St Mark's Dundela.

He was also Chancellor of the Diocese of Down and Dromore, and assessor at the Diocesan Synod last month.
