The funeral of murdered journalist Lyra McKee will take place at St Anne's Cathedral in Belfast on Wednesday.

The 29 year old - who was also an author and gay rights activist - was gunned down during a night of disorder in the Creggan area of Derry- Londonderry on Thursday night.

Trouble started in the area after police raided houses there ahead of this weekend's Easter Commemorations.

The PSNI is blaming the new IRA for fatally shooting Miss McKee - a bullet which police say was intended for officers.

Two men - aged 19 and 18 - were arrested yesterday in connection with the killing.

Hundreds of people have already payed tribute to Miss McKee in vigils across Northern Ireland, including in Derry-Londonderry, Belfast, Dungannon, Strabane, and Newry.

A funeral notice reads:

Lyra Catherine McKee, died 18th April 2019.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday 24th April 2019 at 1.00pm in St Anne's Cathedral, Donegall Street, followed by burial in Carnmoney Cemetery.
