Farmer killed in Coleraine crash named locally

The man who died following a crash near Coleraine yesterday has been named locally as James McCollum from Blagh just outside the town.
 
He died at the scene after the Landrover Jeep he was driving hit a tree on the Curragh Road near astleroe, shortly after 3 p.m.

Mr McCollum, a farmer in his mid-70's and known to his friends as 'Jimmy', was married with a grown-up family.

The Curragh Road was closed  after the crash, but re-opened to traffic in the early hours of this morning.
Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Coleraine police.
