A new awareness campaign has been launched to try to help tackle the scourge of online drugs on the North Coast.

"Monitoring what your children are accessing online can keep them safe from a lot of potential dangers" is the message  from Chief Inspector Ian Magee.  The Causeway Coast and Glens Policing and Community Safety Partnership has teamed up with the PSNI and Crimestoppers to highlight the growing issue of young people ordering drugs online.

The Vice-Chair of the Police and Community Safety Partnership Leanne Abernethy says that "it's vitally important to be vigilant about what [children] are buying"  That's really the essence of the campaign as parents are encouraged to keep an eye on their Children's online spending.

Parents are urged to make sure appropriate internet settings are put on their childrens' devices, while at the same time parents are encouraged to discuss potential online dangers with their children.

A spokesperson for Crimestoppers says they is happy to be part of the campaig and “would like to reassure anyone with information that talking to the charity is completely anonymous and safe.”
