Movie House on the Dublin Road in Belfast will close on Sunday April 26, it has been confirmed.

Michael McAdam, Managing Director of Movie House, said it’s "the end of an era" as he thanked customers and staff for their support over the years.

"We were moved by the many stories people shared with us about their visits to the Dublin Road cinema and we know it was an important part of the local community,” he added.

“In the past year, we’ve invested heavily in our Cityside-Yorkgate cinema to give customers the ultimate luxury movie experience with comfortable VIP recliner seats at no additional cost.

"We want to encourage all our customers to come experience VIP for themselves,” he said.

"All staff have been offered employment at its other cinemas.

Mr McAdam praised staff who've been working in uncertain conditions while the closing date was being decided.

"They’ve done an amazing job and I’d like to publicly thank them for this,” he said.

“We will continue to show movies until Sunday, April 26th and hope our customers old and new will come to say goodbye.

"We wish Kainos well in their new development and to thank them for extending our time at Dublin Road.”
