The PSNI has said that a suspicious white substance found at Royal Mail's sorting office in Newtownabbey earlier today was "non-hazardous".

Emergency services dealt with an "incident" at the facility in Mallusk on the outskirts of Belfast.

Royal Mail said it was investigating the report but that it did not impact on its operations.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were at the scene with the PSNI.

A statement from the police said: "The powder was checked by Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and found to be a non-hazardous substance."

It's not yet known who the substance was sent to or why it was sent.
