Ballymena Electoral Office, which serves a wide area including much of the North Coast, will close at the end of October as planned.

That was the message from Chief Electoral Officer Graham Shields relayed to last night's full Council meeting. But he said they will retain an 'electoral presence' in Ballymena at least until the end of the consultation period in January.

As things stand all Northern Ireland's regional electoral offices are to be centralised in Belfast.
