Appeal after Ballymena match ends in trouble

Witnesses to trouble following Ballymena's home win over Glenavon are being urged to come forward. 

Police say up to 40 people, including rival football fans, were involved in post-match violence, slightly injuring a policeman in his hand.

Fighting broke out in the Warden Street area, shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday.

Police are examining video footage.


Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact police in Ballymena, on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 'CC 1446 12/05/17'. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
