Infrastructure minister Chris Hazzard confirmed work is set to be completed by next summer

Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard confirmed that roadworks on the A26.  Work on the five mile stretch between Glarryford and the Drones Road started last April, and is set to finish in Summer 2017.

The Minister confirmed the roadworks were progressing on schedule, after East Londonderry MLA Adrian McQuillan requested an update on the project.  Speaking to Q Radio News Mr McQuillan said "Each time you drive up that road you see it progressing.  I was wondering is it on schedule?  It's good to get it confirmed that it's progressing on time."

He also said he would like to see a second phase of work done on the road network to Coleraine and the Triangle Area.  "It's something I haven't given up on." said Mr McQuillan "We as a party feel strongly that the road network to Coleraine has to be dualled the whole way."

For now though, the confirmation that the current work on the road is progressing on schedule will be welcome news to commuters.
