One of Northern Ireland's football stars has given his support to a new grassroots football initiative.

'Club Game Changers' is an Electric Ireland initiative, which enables fundraising for aspiring young players.

Through switching to the energy provider, new customers can choose a club, which will then receive £25.

Corry Evans told Q Radio it can make a massive difference.

Also supporting the initiative are Marissa Callaghan, Northern Ireland Senior Women's Captain and Michael Boyd, Irish FA's Director of Football Development.

Commenting on the scheme, Michael said, "We see daily how dedicated parents are to their children's sport, supporting them pitch side, running them to training etc and of course contributing to their club's funds. This initiative is a super way for parents to contribute in a simple way that will greatly benefit their club.

"The Club Game Changers scheme offers clubs the opportunity to give something back to the young footballers who aspire to one day be like Corry.

It is a step in the right direction for the development of the game in Northern Ireland.

Pictured at Greenisland FC, the club where it all started for Corry are: (from bottom left) Jacob Richmond (6), Zara McQuillan (9), Luke Quinn (6) and Daisy Savage (7) who all play for Greenisland FC and aspire to follow in Corry’s footsteps.
