Rathlin is one of just 12 sites nominated in the prestigious LandLove Magazine Awards
Despite its small size, the island is brimming with wildlife – from seals to Irish hares, orchids to birds of prey. It’s perhaps no surprise then that Rathlin is one of just 12 sites nominated in the prestigious LandLove Magazine Awards.
RSPB Northern Ireland manages much of the island for the benefit of nature, working in partnership with local residents to make homes for threatened species like choughs and corncrakes. Between April and September the charity also runs the West Light Seabird Centre, where you can get up close and personal with Northern Ireland’s biggest seabird colony.
Often on the island there are tens of thousands of seabirds, including kittiwakes, guillemots and puffins.
People can vote for Rathlin now at www.landlove.com/awards. Votes must be cast before 3 January 2017.
