The North West Mountain Rescue team received the keys to three new rescue vehicles at their family fun day at Shelbourne Motors in Portadown.
Established in 1980 they provide search and rescue services to the North West area and support ten other teams across the country.
The team rely on public donations to fund their vital work to provide a 24 hour call-out service at the request of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) requiring a high level of commitment from their team members who are expected to respond in all weather conditions, 365 days of the year.
In order to respond quickly, the team is organised into 3 Sections based in Enniskillen, Magherafelt and Ballymena, and known as West, Central and East Sections respectively.
The nearest Section provides an immediate response until additional resources arrive from the other Sections.
The vehicles have been funded by the Department of Justice and were unveiled yesterday by former First Minister Arlene Foster.
