Oval to Oklahoma: Morgan Day crowned Queen of East Belfast on 'Morgan Day'

An American woman is being called the Queen of East Belfast by football fans here after she was accidentally caught up in celebrations of an iconic Irish League victory.

When Chris Morgan scored a dramatic title-deciding winner for Glentoran against Linfield in 2005 it became known as Morgan Day.

On Thursday night, a 33-year-old from Oklahoma whose name is Morgan Day was inadvertently tweeted by Glens fans wishing people a happy 15th anniversary of Morgan Day at The Oval. 

It escalated from the Oval to Oklahoma,  Morgan's become a social media sensation and is loving her new-found fame.

The digital marketer has been speaking to Q Radio from her home in Oklahoma City...

 

Morgan took to Twitter to accept her coronation as East Belfast royalty...

 

The Glens added a bit of colour to City Hall to mark the occasion...

 

Morgan didn't have long to wait to wear the famous red, green and black.

She's received an express delivery from a lifelong Glenman based in her town town - Alan White. 

 

 

 

 

Glentoran fans have a chance to relive memories of the big day - Morgan Day - on Saturday afternoon.
