They denied Linfield Ladies the clean sweep this season

Newry City Ladies have upset the odds to win the Women's Premiership League Cup.

They beat Linfield Ladies 2-0 in last night's final at Holm Park in Armagh.

Grace Murray gave Newry a half-time lead with a stunning 35-yard free kick and Aimee Mackin hit a brilliant second on the hour.

The Blues had been going for a domestic clean sweep but missed out in what was the last match of the women's season.

Newry manager Jason McConville says his team was determined to take the trophy.
