A woman has been struck on the leg with a hammer during an aggravated burglary in Belfast.
Two men burst in to a flat in the Queen Victoria Gardens area of Skegoneill just after midnight yesterday.
The pair stole two mobile phones from the property.
Detective Inspector McDonnell said: “We received report at approximately 12:15 am that two men entered the property in the Queen Victoria Gardens area armed with what was described as a hammer.
"It was reported that the female occupant, was struck on the leg with the hammer.
“The first male is described as approximately 6FT in height, slim, clean shaven, wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up and dark cotton shorts.
"The second male is described as approximately 5FT 4” wearing a black hooded top with the hood up and black shorts."
Anyone who was in the area and saw what happened, or who noticed suspicious activity, has been asked to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station
