The aggravated burglary happened Thursday evening in a flat in the Connsbrook Avenue area.

The men targetted were treated at the scene by paramedics.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following the report of an aggravated burglary at a flat in the Connsbrook Avenue area of Belfast on Thursday, 15 February.

"Sometime after 5.00pm a man and woman entered the flat and assaulted the two male occupants. The female was armed with a baseball bat and the male had what is believed to be a wheel brace.

"They assaulted one of the two men and when the second man tried to intervene he was also assaulted. Both men were treated at the scene.

"The male and female then left the scene.
