Two men arrested over horrific Bangor attack

Two men have been arrested over an attack in Bangor which left a 19-year-old with life changing injuries to his arms and legs.

He was assaulted behind the Kilcooley Shops just before 9pm last Friday.

Detectives have called the attack "brutal and horrific".

The suspects aged 31 and 33 have been released on bail as an investigation continues.

Detective Sergeant Bell said: "This was a serious assault in the Ballynoe Gardens area of Bangor on Friday, 1 December. 

"Shortly before 9pm it was reported a man was being assaulted by two other men at the rear of Kilcooley Shops. The man, aged 19, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries, which are described as life changing, to his arms and legs. This was a brutal and horrific attack on a young man.

"Two men, aged 31 and 33, were arrested yesterday in the Kilcooley area of Bangor on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent. Both men have since been released on bail, pending further enquiries. 

"Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact them in Bangor Police Station on 101 quoting reference number 1448 of 01/12/17. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
