By Bob Huggins

Detectives in the Republic have arrested two men in connection with the attempted murder of two police officers in county Londonderry.

The pair aged 29 and 32 were arrested by Gardaí in Dublin earlier today.

They are being held in connection with the attempted murder of two PSNI officers in Eglinton in June 2015.

A bomb was left under a car at Glenrandel outside a house belonging to two police officers.

Today's arrests were made under a European Arrest Warrant as part of a joint operation with the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

They are due to appear before Dublin's High Court later today.
