Teenager attacked and mugged in Derry Londonderry

An 18-year-old has been treated in hospital after he was attacked and mugged by two men in Derry Londonderry.

The teenager was punched and kicked to the ground on Marlborough Street on Saturday evening.

The pair stole his mobile phone.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said "Detectives are investigating the report of a street robbery at Marlborough Street in Derry on Saturday 10th June.

"It was reported that an 18 year old man was attacked by two males as he walked in the Marlborough Street area at around 5.45pm on Saturday evening. The two males punched and kicked the man to the ground and stole his phone. The man was treated in hospital for cuts and bruising and an injury to his stomach which is believed to have been caused by a bladed weapon. Following the attack, the two males made off on foot through a metal fence on Marlborough Road towards the Bogside. 

"Detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at Strand Road on 101 quoting reference number 1040 10/06/17. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
