Taxi driver robbed at knifepoint in West Belfast

A taxi driver has been robbed at knifepoint by a passenger in West Belfast last night.

Detective Sergeant O’Flaherty said: “Police received a report that a taxi driver had been robbed by a man armed with a knife at around 10.40pm on Wednesday night at Kilmore Close in west Belfast.

"The taxi driver had picked the man up at a taxi rank outside the Great Northern Mall in Great Victoria Street in Belfast City Centre shortly after 10.30pm and then driven the short distance to Kilmore Close, where the man produced a knife and threatened the driver.

"A sum of money was handed over and the man made off on foot from the scene. He was described as being a white male, aged in his late 20’s, of thin build, with short hair and had a Belfast accent.
