Suspicious object in North Belfast declared a hoax

A suspicious object which sparked a security alert in Belfast last night has been declared a hoax.

Army bomb experts and police attended the scene in the Bruslee Way area.

A PSNI statement said:

Last night, Saturday, 28 September, police attended a security alert in the Bruslee Way area of Belfast, following a report of a suspicious object.

ATO attended the scene and declared the object a hoax.

Inspector Murphy would appeal to anyone who has any information that could assist police with their investigations to contact police at Tennent Street on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 2128 28/09/19.  Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
