Storm Arwen: Man killed by falling tree in Antrim

A man has died after a tree fell on his car in Antrim.

It happened on Dublin Road in the town this afternoon as Storm Arwen continues to batter Northern Ireland and parts of the Republic.

The road is closed between its junctions with Oldstone Hill, Tirgracy Road and Deerpark Road.

A weather warning is in place for the storm which hit this morning, causing travel disruption and bringing down trees across Northern Ireland. 

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for Northern Ireland but a red warning for Scotland and north east England.

Met Éireann also has a warning in place for Counties Donegal, Mayo and Sligo.

Strong winds and high waves are expected at coastal areas and people have been urged to exercise caution.

P&O Ferries has cancelled sailings between Larne and Cairnryan while Stenaline's Belfast to Cairnryan has also been suspended.

The ferry between Rathlin and Ballycastle has also been cancelled.

A fallen tree on Galgorm Road in Ballymena has been cleared.
