by Q Radio news

There's shock following the announcement of the death of Mark Jamieson, one of the north west's best known press photographers.

Mark fell ill suddenly last month and had been on life support in the Royal Victoria Hospital.

The father of one died peacefully with his family by his side.

Over the years Mark won numerous awards for his photography and was a familiar face around his home town of Coleraine where for many years he was the chief photographer at the Coleraine Chronicle.

Today the Chairman of the Northern Ireland Press Photographers Association, Freddie Parkinson, said the industry was in mourning at the loss of a great friend.

"All our thoughts are with his daughter, Lindsey, and all the family circle."

Some years ago Mark lost his wife Donna to cancer which came as a great shock to him and their daughter, Lynsey.
