Police investigating suspected drugs crimes linked to North Antrim UDA have carried out a search at a house in Ahoghill outside Ballymena.

Officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force were involved and a number of items were seized.

The search was conducted under the Misuse of Drugs Act and a number of items were seized which will now be subject to further examination.

Detective Inspector Brennan said:

“This search is evidence of our continuing commitment to tackling the harm caused by drugs in our communities.

North Antrim UDA are involved in all forms of organised criminality and look to control local communities, stopping people giving information to police, leaving them free to continue to exploit ordinary members of the public.

The PCTF are working to disband this criminal organisation and will continue to listen to communities and act on information they provide, so I would encourage members of the public with information regarding drug dealing and any form of criminality to call us on 101.

"You can also submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/. The independent charity Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111
