The PSNI's looking into an assault that happened in the Queen's Parade/Gray's Hill area of Bangor in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At around 12.15am officers found a 26 year old man, who had injuries to his head and was bleeding heavily.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but was later discharged.

Police are particularly keen to hear from a driver who stopped at the scene at spoke to officers at the time.

We're told the victim was walking with the aid of a crutch when he was attacked, therefore anyone who may have spotted him is asked to come froward.

A 35 year old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a Class B controlled drug but was released on bail.

He also received hospital treatment for a head injury.
