Police appeal after man stabbed in the stomach

An 18 year-old has been questioned by police after a man was stabbed in the stomach in Belfast.

Police said on Monday that the man and a male friend were walking in the Ravensdale Street area of the city at around 7pm on Saturday when they were approached by a group of five men.

One of the men is believed to have stabbed the victim in the stomach. The second man was uninjured.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

PSNI detective sergeant Gardiner has asked anyone who may have witnessed the attack to contact police at Musgrave PSNI Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1082 03/02/18.

An 18 year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbing. He was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.
