Police have recovered the remains of a suspected pipe bomb in Derry/Londonderry.
Officers were alerted to the incident in the Lincoln Court area following reports of a "loud bang" at around 1am.
The object was found located in the rear of a garden in the area and has been taken for examination.
Meanwhile, a man and woman, both in their 20s and two young children, were inside a nearby property during the incident but were not injured.
No damage has been caused to the property.
Detective Sergeat Richard Donnell said, “Thankfully there were no reports of any injuries following this reckless act, which could have had serious consequences in this residential area.
“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 88 09/06/20."

Local Councillor David Ramsey visited the Lincoln Court area this morning.
He told Q Radio residents are afraid of what happened and "it has put fear in the community".
Mr Ramsey condemned this behaviour and says those responsible "need to desist from this type of action".
Foyle MP Colum Eastwood has condemned those behind the pipe bomb incident overnight.
He described it as ‘an attack on the entire community’ and has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Mr Eastwood said, "Those responsible for this pipe bomb could have caused tragedy for people in this city. They don’t care about people here, their only goal is to create chaos and crisis.
“The people of this city have rejected this violence and those behind it. The people responsible need to understand that they are not wanted in Derry.
“This is an attack, not just on one home or area, but on our entire community. I would appeal for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious around Lincoln Court last night to come forward to police.”
